Mike Payne here, I am an entrepreneurial executive blessed to find myself in my dream career. How did I get so lucky?
Out of college I worked in the software space, focused most specifically on manufacturers, and went through a few rounds of investment and eventually an exit. This experience early on in my career prompted two passions; business funding/transactions and manufacturing.
Over the last 20+ years I have had the humbling opportunity to assist in funding, starting, buying, managing and selling dozens of companies across multiple industries throughout Oklahoma and the region. Working mostly with closely held companies, I’ve been able to help dreams come true, overcome obstacles and make meaningful improvements in the professional and personal lives of entrepreneurs of all types.
Always having an eye on an opportunity to pursue my passion for manufacturing, the timing was right to jump in feet first and with a few trusted partners acquired a very successful regional precision CNC and Fabrication shop. Our mission at Hill is to Deliver Quality Parts. On Time. Every Time. It’s a lofty but important goal that requires daily improvements in what we do and how we do it. Our clients expect it and when we execute it creates growth and opportunity for our employees and all stakeholders.
Helping others is probably my biggest energizer, which has led me into podcasting over the past few years. I hope you will listen to MakingChips and Buy the Numbers and see if you learn anything from my guests or I. I won't ever claim to be an expert on anything, but I have been fortunate to see and do a lot of things, winners and losers, so if my experience teaches you something I am happy.
I am humbled that I get to live my professional dream and I always enjoy the opportunity to help others do the same. If you think I can help you I’m happy to share what I know!

Hi @Kyle_Rahe I have seen some of your work, looking good and putting in the weekend hours too! Congratulations, you're off to a good start.

Hey y'all, Dennis here! Lifelong tinkerer turned product designer. Always been fascinated by how things are made.
Co-founded a small company years ago called SyncFab, a marketplace focused on local manufacturing for Aerospace and Defense. Learned a ton over the years, and I am now focused on issues around compliance.
Like Michael mentioned, I've seen American manufacturers getting the short end of the stick from big orgs over the years. Just here to learn and support however I can. Cheers! -

@Robert_Beecher welcome to the forum!
I love the mission.
It would be great to collect the contact info for shops looking for an exit.
I know a lot of people who are interested and actively making acquisitions. -
I have a list! Are your people investors or aspiring operators?
-
It's a mix of both.
We see a lot of operators who are scaling up by purchasing existing businesses as a means of expansion.
They are typically mission driven and want to slow the bleeding.
Every time a shop closes in the US we lose an entire generation of knowledge. -

@Mark-_Coxon @George_Bain do you already know @Robert_Beecher?
It sounds like you would have a lot to talk about.
You can create a private group chat if you prefer to keep it out of the public forum. -

It pains me to see all the hard work and tribal knowledge go away so fast. I am hoping to find some great people who will trust me with continuing their legacy, keeping jobs, and helping their customers.

George Bain here. I live in northeast Ohio with my wife and son. My Shop is on the eastside of Cleveland. I come from a family of manufacturing business owners stretching back 70+ years. I really like making cool stuff. We pride ourselves on being a thinking person's shop. We are all about partnerships. If I'm part of an RFQ with 5 other Shops then I'm probably not the company to help. I'm 41 and willing to take on the mantle for the next generation of manufacturing owners. I'm old enough to remember MySpace and being a first user on Facebook, but young enough to adopt the newest tech that makes life easier.
